Today, Bandai Namco dropped a new “street date” trailer for its upcoming fighting game upgrade, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R. The video included the release date for the game, or to be more accurate release dates. JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R will land on Steam September 1, 2022. The “Early Access Demo” for JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R will launch only for the PlayStation (4 and 5). It will allow limited access to online multiplayer along with practice mode. There’s no date for the demo yet, but preorders for the full version have launched today for every platform but the Switch. The release date for the Switch version is the same, but for unknown reasons players on that platform will have to wait longer for preorder information.
In addition to the standard edition, a Digital Deluxe and Collector’s Edition will also be available, which comprise the following (quoted from today’s press release):
- Digital Deluxe Edition ($69.99): This includes Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R, an Animation Special Event Color Set for the following characters (Jonathan Joestar, Joseph Joestar, Jotaro Kujo, Josuke Higashikata, Giorno Giovanna), and the Season Pass, which grants four new playable characters, two exclusive costumes (Rohan Kishibe First Appearance Costume” & “Mohammed Avdol’s Father? Costume”), and two days of early access to all Season Pass characters.
- Collector’s Bundle ($99.99): This includes JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R, an Animation Special Event Color Set for the following characters (Jonathan Joestar, Joseph Joestar, Jotaro Kujo, Josuke Higashikata, Giorno Giovanna), and a Special Color version of the Grandista series Jolyne Cujoh 10 in. statue.
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R is a new version of a game originally released for the PlayStation 3. It includes updated visuals, new characters and more. A season pass will add even more characters, today’s press release claiming a roster of 50 characters from throughout the current anime adaptation of JoJo’s Bizarre adventure. The current anime started in 2012, and is still running today, the most recent season covering the manga’s Stone Ocean arc. A previous anime adaptation was released all the way back in 1993, but the series didn’t truly gain steam worldwide until the newer series.
