It is officially announced that the developers of the browser will be optimising the same for battery and system memory. Google will be rolling out the new performance settings for the browser very soon and that will reduce the memory usage by up to 40%. It is revealed that the new modes called Memory Saver and Energy Saver and the same will be available on all platforms including Windows, macOS, and ChromeOS in the coming weeks.
Talking about the Memory Saver mode, it is meant to help users who have many tabs open at the same time (someone like me). The feature will reduce the memory usage of each tab, and enable users to keep more tabs open without causing their device to slow down. The feature frees up memory from tabs you aren’t currently using and which means the active tab will be smooth and your machine will not have to offer lots of resources to the web browser.
On the other hand, the Energy Saver mode will offer extended battery life while using the Google Chrome browser. The feature will automatically activate when a user’s device battery level drops to 20% and the same will reduce energy consumption by limiting background activity and visual effects.
