When we lookout for a new smartphone, most people look for great hardware available in the price. But not many understand that good software is as important as good hardware, to efficiently use the full potential of that hardware. Generally, consumers purchase a smartphone that looks great on paper, but due to unoptimized software, the experience gets ruined. If we compare in between Android & iOS, we know that io is far superior software but the users of Android are much more (also, Android has a lot of freedom).
That is why today we are going to list out our Best 5 Android User Interface skins which did good in 2021. This list will be based on how much effort brands put on optimizing the User Interface and make it better. So, without further ado, let’s get started.
1. Stock UI by Motorola:
Motorola improved their phones no only physically but via software as well. You may ask that it’s pure android, there’s no skin on the top? But here I am talking more about the small features Motorola gives into the stock UI. If you get hands-on a recent Motorola phone, you will notice that there are many gesture-based features which makes the smartphone handy without any bloatware. And most importantly why Motorola is on top is because they continued to keep the UI bloat & ad free even in 2021, even on budget smartphones. Kudos for that, & hope they will continue to do the same and become an example for other OEMs.
2. MIUI by Xiaomi:
Many of you will be like “Now why this Meme UI who set the trend of ads?” & My answer is “because they improved”. Believe it or not, Xiaomi has drastically improved MIUI in 2021 with the latest MIUI 12,5 update. Now the options to disable ads on the device are more transparent than before, and after disabling such options you won’t see a single ad. And regarding bugs, for which MIUI is known for, also became very less. Now the UI is much more stable than before, even on budget devices like Redmi Note 10. Hope they keep improving more in 2022.
3. OneUI by Samsung:
OneUI is now known as one of the best Android skins. It’s very stable and of course backed by a reliable brand name. But last year they also dived into this ad & bloatware game like others. But it’s good to see this year they controlled all those things a bit, while maintaining the stability as before. Let’s see if Samsung will keep reducing ads/bloatware or not?
4. Realme UI by Realme:
Realme is the youngest brand out of all listed here, and they are consistently improving every year. Their UI gives head-to-head competition to MIUI now and last year Realme was far better than MIUI. This year also they are improving the UI but I don’t see much improvement as compared to other brands. It’s still a stable software with less bloat and controllable ad situation, but they really need to work hard on their cameras.
5. OxygenOS (ColorOS) by OnePlus (OPPO):
Now comes the brand which revamped their UI the most but at the same time left users with a lot of doubtful questions. OxygenOS, popularly known as best custom skin on Android, is now combined with ColorOS from inside. Which means the outer layer is covered in OxygenOS, but internally the codes are running of ColorOS. OnePlus Nord 2 is the first device with this implementation and we can see some changes like OPPO’s camera app and unnecessary permissions in few system apps. Good thing as of now is better camera image processing. But can OnePlus maintain the ad free experience in future also, that’s the question which remains.
And these were our pick of best custom UIs of 2021 on Android. Which one is your favorite User Interface? Let us know in the comment section below. & Don’t forget to check out our Best of 2021 series to know other popular products of this year.
