In todays era where digital world is now an essential part of ones life, digital security is as important as real life security. We know that smartphone is a digital device that we use the most in our daily life. And here Android is widely-used in the world, more than any mobile OS. So it’s necessary for Google to keep their OS as secured as possible. Google is serious for this concern and thus, push security patches regularly. But seems like not everyone do the same.
A new security breech has been found on some Android smartphones. Actually it’s not new, this breech was fixed by Google a long ago and they even released a security patch back in December 2017. But looks like this particular patch is left on few smartphones and that’s a serious security flaw by the OEMs. Don’t worry it’s not so serious because in this malware a malicious code enters the smartphone if we install and give some permissions to apps from unknown websites. The companies which left this patch for some of their smartphones are Samsung, Huawei, Xiaomi, Oppo, Motorola, and even the in-house Google also. Below is the complete list of all smartphones lacking the December 2017 patch now :
- Google Pixel
- Google Pixel 2
- Samsung Galaxy S7
- Samsung Galaxy S8
- Samsung Galaxy S9
- Huawei P20
- Oppo A3
- Moto Z3
- Redmi 5a
- Redmi Note 5
- Mi A1
So that’s all the information we have as of now. Google will surely send a security patch for these devices as early as possible, but as it’s not so serious breech they will push it out in next month security patch, not prior patch only for this breech. What are your thoughts on this carelessness of these OEMs? Do you think being such a big brand they all are responsible for this? Let us know in the comment section below.
