The popular mobile chipset maker Qualcomm has officially announced its highly anticipated flagship mobile chipset called the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and it was believed to be dubbed as Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus. The company has introduced the new chipset with improvements in performance and power efficiency and the same is a successor of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 mobile processor which was announced in the month of November last year. The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 features the same octa-core architecture setup which is available on the previous generation which means the latest processor is also coming with a single ultra high performance Cortex-X2 core, three Cortex-A710 cores, and four Cortex-A510 efficiency cores. But the chipset maker has done a few minor tweaks to improve the efficiency of the chipset and that will provide an amazing experience on the flagship smartphones.
It has been overclocked and the Cortex X2 core has been overclocked from 3.00 GHz to 3.20 GHz, which means the CPU performance will be improved by 10% and the GPU has been also overclocked and the same can able to provide up to 10% better performance as well.
Power is the most important factor of a device and the company has improved the power efficiency in the latest set as well. The chipset maker has developed the new chipset based on TSMC, and it is now capable to provide 30% improved power efficiency.
Apart from the above mentioned changes, the latest Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is identical to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 mobile processor. The chipset can support up to 16GB of 3,200 MHz of LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage and it can offer QHD+ display along with up to 144Hz or 4K at 60Hz, 10-bit rendering (Rec. 2020) and HDR10+ support.
It is also coming with the Snapdragon X65 modem and which can able to provide peak 5G speeds of up to 10Gbps, while the FastConnect 6900 WiFi modem runs Wi-Fi 6/6E at up to 3.6GHz. It is also featuring Bluetooth 5.3 and the chipset supports Qualcomm’s latest aptX Lossless technology and Bluetooth LE Audio.
It is featuring a triple 18-bit Spectra ISP and the same can offer up to 200MP sensors along with the ability to record videos in 8K at 30fps (4K at 120fps). The chipset also supports a dedicated bokeh engine along with HLG, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision formats.
The company has also confirmed that the popular smartphone brands such as Xiaomi, Realme, Motorola and OnePlus will be launching their devices with the power of the latest Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 starting from Q2 2022.
