The Taiwanese chipmaker MediaTek has acquired Intel’s Enpirion Power Solutions Business for a total of $85 million (2.4 billion Yuan). The chip related assets from Intel Enpirion Power Solutions Business will be acquired by the company via its subsidiary Richtek.
According to MediaTek the legal proceedings and documentation have already been cleared and the company expects the deal to be closed by the end of this year. This purchase would help the company to equip better to supply integrated high-frequency and high-efficiency power solutions used in FPGA, SoC, CPU, and ASIC for the enterprise-level system applications. Which in turn would help the company improve its scale of operations, improve its business performance, and increase competitiveness.
They have been working on server ASIC business and has been working with Google to integrate the Intel Enpirion product line. With the new server, the company hopes to offer solutions like 5G base stations. The chipmaker has been busy acquiring deals lately as it looks to gain the top spot in the industry in the coming years. This would help them establish leadership in the chip-making business to compete with Qualcomm and Samsung.
