The very popular chipset maker MediaTek has unveiled new chipsets for entry level Chromebooks and the same are dubbed MediaTek Kompanio 520 and MediaTek Kompanio 528. The new chipsets are coming with improvements in display along with better power management and more. The latest MediaTek Kompanio 520 and 528 chipsets are coming with two ARM Cortex-A76 cores from eight total cores while the 520 is featuring a clock speed of 2.0GHz and the 528 is coming with a clock speed of 2.2GHz. Both are coming with an upgraded dual-core GPU along with integrated APU for improving AI-powered performance.
The newly announced MediaTek Kompanio 520 and Kompanio 528 supports Full HD+ display with 2520 x 1080 pixels resolution along with the capability to add a secondary Full HD display with 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution.
Both of them are supporting for LPDDR4x RAM and eMMC 5.1 storage. It will also support up to 32-megapixel with 60fps FHD video recording as well. The chipsets are also supporting HiFi-5 DSP for improved microphone processing. It is also supporting Wi-Fi 6.
Regarding the availability, the first set of Chromebooks with the power of the newly announced MediaTek chipsets will be official in the first quarter of next year.
