Vivo has been on the phone releasing spree over the last couple of months. We’ve seen the Vivo Z1 Pro, Vivo Z 1x, Vivo S1, and just recently, the Vivo U 10, and Vivo V 17 Pro. We have currently evaluated all these new offerings, and now it’s time to have a look at the Vivo V17 Pro.
Let me tell you about how the six-camera smartphone from Vivo performs. Realme and Xiaomi tried the quad-rear cam setup, but Vivo came up with the Vivo V17 Pro, which sports four video cameras at not only the back of it but also two cams at the front.
Much like the rest of Vivo’s V-series, the selfie video camera is the main highlight. The Vivo V17 Pro showcases two pop-up selfie electronic cameras and four at the back, for an overall of six cameras. It costs nearly Rs. 30,000, which makes it a direct rival to the likes of the Oppo Reno 2Z, Xiaomi Redmi K 20 Pro, Asus 6Z, and even the One Plus 7, as long as it remains reduced.
Phone Specifications
Let’s look at the specification of the phone first. Vivo V17 Pro is about Rs 30,000. With that cost comes the following:
- 6.44-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED
- 20:9 element ratio
- 48MP +13 MP +8 MP +2 MP quad-rear electronic camera setup
- 32MP +8 MP double pop-up front video camera
- Snapdragon 675 processor
- 8GB RAM + 128GB ROM
- 4,100 mAh battery
- 18W Dual-Engine quick charging
- Dual SIM card; micro SD card slot
Vivo V 17 Pro might not be as flashy as its counterparts, but it sure is attractive.
The Cameras
As a camera phone, the Vivo V 17 Pro packs in some great hardware, but the software application still needs a bit of polishing. Accessing particular fundamental functions can be a multi-step process when it should not be. The dual front cameras are best for selfie lovers; it offers so much imaginative freedom, especially with functions such as the positioning guides.
The rear 48-megapixel camera shoots good quality photos during the daytime and low light. There’s a telephoto video camera too, offering 2x optical zoom. The V17 Pro likewise has a depth cam, which helps when shooting bokeh portraits. The 32-megapixel selfie camera records pleasing selfies and also supports night mode. The secondary 8-megapixel wide-angle cam lets you get a lot more individuals in one frame.
The Vivo V17 Pro is a distinct offering, with two pop-up selfie cams and four more at the back. It’s well developed and looks premium, despite the all-polycarbonate develop.
If selfies are your thing, the Vivo V17 Pro might appeal to you. If not, you must take a look at phones such as the Redmi K 20 Pro and Oppo Reno 2Z, which cost around the same rate and use much better processors, specifically for gaming, and similarly skilled video cameras. Nevertheless, do take note that Vivo V17 is brilliant enough to for outdoor shoots, capturing sharp and dynamic colors.
Other Phone Features
The in-display fingerprint sensing unit works well, but face unlocks would be the last option and can’t be used as the primary mode of unlocking the phone. You likewise get a ‘wise key’ button, which can be customized to carry out various functions.
PUBG Mobile works on High graphics with High frame rates, and when setting the graphics to medium, I have the option to choose the Ultra frame rate choice too. Vivo V17 Pro might have utilized the Snapdragon 730 instead of the Snapdragon 675 chipset. While the video game in itself runs without lags or visible frame drops, allowing you to play the likes of Fortnite or LoL, the gadget gets slightly warm near the cam module within 5 minutes of gameplay.
Still, the battery efficiency of the V17 Pro is commendable. With my extensive use, the 4,100 mAh battery lasted more than a day, and with reasonable use, it could probably last for two days. Charging is also fast at around two hours only with its 18W Dual-Engine quick charging support.
The phone can deal with a flood of alerts and keep a significant amount of apps opened in the background. Changing apps is not so quick, like with Vivo Z1X. Perhaps, it’s time for Vivo to modify its skin a little.
The colors of the V17 Pro look premium. It comes in either Glacier Ice (White) and Midnight Ocean (Black). The screen has an aspect ratio of 20:9, which I genuinely like. It is not too tall nor too broad. I can hold it conveniently with my relatively small hands. I especially like the Dark Mode. It turns the whole UI black, however forcefully puts a dark style on the third-party apps also.
Conclusion
The most significant disadvantage of the phone is its price perhaps. Although the efficiency of the phone is okay, its Rs 30,000 price makes it unable to stand out in this congested market. Nevertheless, if you are into smartphone photography, then Vivo V17 Pro would be your best shot.
