After a long wait the South Korean electronics giant Samsung has relaunched its foldable smartphone in last month, and today the company has launched the Samsung Galaxy Fold in the market of India and the device becomes the first foldable smartphone in the country. The company unveiled the device earlier this year and become the first commercial foldable smartphone as well, but due to some designing errors and complaints, the company stopped its launching in the market and now finally everything is fixed. Designing setup of Samsung Galaxy Fold
The relaunched version of Galaxy Fold comes with improved design and construction, the company did not change the overall setup of the device from the original version. In the relaunched version comes with the solution for the hinge as well as the protective layer for the flexible display.
Samsung has now added rubber protection to avoid the dust and other particles getting inside through the foldable part, and the layer on top now at beyond the edges, which means now it can’t accidentally peel.
Specifications of Samsung Galaxy Fold
The smaller display has a size of just 4.3 inch with HD+ (1960 x 840) resolution and 21:9 aspect ratio. Unfolding the larger display, it has a size of 7.3 inch with a resolution of Full HD+ (2152 x 1536 and 16:10 aspect ratio. It comes with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 octa-core processor that’s built on a 7mm process along with Adreno 640 GPU. It has 12GB of massive RAM and 512GB of internal storage.
On the camera department, it has a 12MP sensor with an f/1.5 dual aperture lens and dual pixel OIS. The secondary is also a 12MP sensor but with f/2.4 telephoto 2x zoom lens, autofocus, and OIS. Lastly, the third one is a 16MP sensor with an f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle (133) lens but with a fixed focus. It can record videos up to 4K at 60fps, 1080p at 240fps, and 720p at 960fps. On the front, there is a 10MP sensor with an f/1.9 lens and Dual Pixel PDAF, and also a secondary 8MP depth sensor with f/2.2 lens and dual pixel autofocus. This device also has a 4K video recording option from the front camera. Other camera features are AR Emojis, Stickers, and live focus. Now here comes a difference with a 6th camera. This Galaxy Fold runs on Android 9.0 Pie out of the box with Samsung’s One UI on top. It packs two sets of batteries within that makes the power of 4,380 mAh combined together. It has fast charging support, but no wireless charging is present. It has a single speaker with Dolby ATMOS support and 32-bit 3.5mm headphone jack. The fingerprint sensor is placed at the side. Also because of the foldable technology, this is the first smartphone to have three-way multitasking. This means it can open three apps simultaneously on the screen. For connectivity, it has 4G, dual-band Wi-FI, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, NFC, aptX HD, and Type-C port.
Pricing and availability
The smartphone is priced at ₹1,64,999 and the device can be pre-booked from October 4 and the company will start shipping from October 20. Interested users can pre-book the device via the official Samsung India website along with the offline stores in 35 cities including the Samsung Opera House.
