Microsoft Edge is the latest internet browser and the same debuted alongside Windows 10 a couple of years ago. Microsoft has tried various methods to attract more and more users and the company has also recently made a controversial setup that made users hard to switch the default browser in Windows 11 operating system as well. Now the company has implemented a new feature to attract more users as the company has implemented a free inbuilt VPN Service inside the internet browser. Microsoft Edge is bringing the Cloudflare powered Edge Secure Network VPN service and the feature will be rolling out to all the users as part of a security update in the near future. Speaking about the new feature, the newly implemented Microsoft Edge VPN is capable to encrypt web traffic and make things safe and secure ISPs (Internet service providers). The new feature will also hide your location and also enable you to watch content of Netflix or Hulu shows in the restricted areas as well.
Microsoft Edge VPN is also coming with some restrictions as well as the free version will offer a data use limit of 1GB per month, and you need to login to a Microsoft account.
It is worth mentioning that Cloudflare will collect support and diagnostic information from the service. That said, the company will purge the data every 25 hours.
The new VPN feature is currently in the development stage and the same is expected to be available to Microsoft Edge Insider members first.
How to enable the feature
Once the feature is available on your device, you need to activate the VPN Service by clicking on the three dots drop-down on the top right side of the screen and select the secure network option. As soon as the connection is secure, you will see a shield icon and when you complete the work and close the browser, the VPN session will automatically end.
