Earlier this week, Qualcomm announced that it would ‘redefine’ wireless networking performance on the latest Fast Connect 6900 WiFi system PCs with the latest Microsoft Windows 11 operating system.
Qualcomm 4-stream dual band Wi-Fi dual station designed simultaneously uses multiple WiFi bands and antennas simultaneously to perform better than traditional single band connections. Meaning, it uses 2.4GHz and 5GHz (or even 6GHz) together, allowing you to solve latency issues in a band at a system level.
In testing with Qualcomm Technologies’ off-the-shelf retail Wi-Fi 6 access points, the Qualcomm 4-stream dual-band WiFi dual station simultaneously provides consistent jitter-free wireless gameplay similar to Ethernet latency. Also, compared to single station WiFi, the new wireless was able to provide four times more latency than the standard wireless counterparts. In other words, the results show that it will be great for PC gamers on Windows 11 laptops.
Microsoft has officially stated, “Microsoft is pleased to bring ‘WiFi Dual Station’ to the Windows 11 ecosystem, enabling our Windows OEMs and ecosystem leaders to provide low latency performance on the latest WiFi hardware. For games and other latency sensitive applications now two user WiFi connections provide the best in the class user experience.
The company added that this unique partnership with Microsoft is essential in realizing Windows 11’s promise with Qualcomm Technology’s latest WiFi 6E4 stream dual band Symanteles devices. Through centralized collaboration, we address today’s unprecedented wireless challenges and dramatically expand these premium capabilities across the entire surface system.
