Mobile communication is not allowed in airplanes as we need to enable airplane mode before the flight takes off. But it is going to be history, as today we got a new piece of information which is saying that the end of Airplane mode is near. The European Union has made a new setup and the same will enable users to access 5G connectivity and make calls and also stream video and audio websites while flying to a destination. So without making any further delay let’s dive into the article to check out the details.
It is worth mentioning that mobile service is available on flights as the EU Commission reserved certain frequency bands for aircraft in 2008 and the same enables to access the internet but the same is not that fast and overpriced.
However, now the rules are changed and the passengers of airplanes in European Union countries will not need to put their phones in airplane mode during flight. It is announced that the authorities have decided to remove the ‘airplane mode’ rule and the deadline for the same for member states to make the 5G frequency bands available for planes is 30 June 2023. That means users can able to use phone while flying and the same will also enable users to make calls and data-heavy apps that stream music and video.
There is plenty of time for the implementation but it is pretty good to know that the connectivity option is coming while flying. We would love to see the same in India as well.
