In October, India adopted the next generation 5G connectivity and Jio as well as Airtel is currently offering the 5G connectivity in India. Jio is offering standalone 5G connectivity and the same is considered as the true 5G provider as well. On the other hand, Airtel is offering non stanalone 5G network in the country and the telecom operator is offering the service on its 4G infrastructure. Jio has promised to offer 5G connectivity across the country by the end of next year while Airtel has promised to offer 5G service across the country by market 2024.
Now it is officially revealed that 50 cities of the country is now having 5G connectivity. The telecom operators are focusing on covering metropolitans and megacities. It is worth mentioning that the information has revealed by the Union Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw during the parliamentary question period.
Having said that, Airtel customers can access 5G in the area where 5G is available without any invitation while Jio is now offering invite-only access to 5G. It is worth noting that you must have a 5G enabled device to access the service.
Currently, the 5G service is available in the cities including Delhi, Siliguri, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Varanasi, Nagpur, Mumbai, Chennai, Gurugram, Panipat, Guwahati, and Patna from Airtel while Jio is offering it service in the cities like Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Greater Noida, Faridabad, Mumbai, Varanasi, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Nathdwara, Pune, and Ghaziabad. Unexpectedly, all 33 district headquarters in Gujarat now have access to Jio True 5G.
