The highly anticipated Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 flagship mobile processor has been officially announced. It is coming with artificial intelligence capabilities along with power efficient. It is believed to debut before the end of this year in multiple smartphones including Vivo, Xiaomi, and more.
The newly announced Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 features Kryo CPU with one prime core based on the ARM Cortex-X3 clocked at 3.2GHz along with four performance cores at 2.8GHz and three efficiency cores at 2.0GHz. It was also said that the newly introduced mobile processor is 35% faster and 40% more power efficient than the previous generation.
Qualcomm has introduced its new flagship processor with the latest Adreno GPU and that is claimed to provide 25 percent higher performance and 45% more power efficient. It is also featuring hardware-accelerated ray tracing and the chipset supports faster memory technologies including LP-DDR5X RAM at up to 4,200MHz and new UFS 4.0 storage.
It is worth mentioning that the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is built using a 4nm process, the chipset is supporting QHD+ resolution at up to 144Hz or 4K resolution at 60Hz. It is also capable to support external displays up to 4K resolution at 60Hz with a 10-bit Rec. 2020 color gamut, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision.
Talking about the camera department, the latest Snapdragon flagship mobile processor is capable to feature a triple 18-bit ISP that supports up to three 36MP cameras simultaneously or up to 200MP for a single-camera set up. It is also supporting 108MP camera sensors with zero shutter lag. Qualcomm has also improved support for the latest Sony and Samsung sensors as Sony sensors with DOL-HDR and Samsung’s 200MP HP3 sensors are optimized with the ISP.
The latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is also coming with improvements with the Hexagon processor for up to 4.35x faster Artificial Intelligence (AI) performance and it is claimed that the processor can able to manage complex tasks. The latest mobile processor is also supporting Wi-Fi 7 technology and becomes the first chipset to do so.
It is also featuring a Qualcomm Snapdragon X70 modem and the same is capable to boost 5G performance and it is also supporting dual active 5G SIMs.
Qualcomm has revealed that a list of smartphone brands has joined their hands with the company for the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 flagship mobile processor including Motorola, OPPO, and ASUS ROG, among others.
It is worth mentioning that Samsung will be launching its flagship smartphone series dubbed Samsung Galaxy S23 series with the new flagship mobile processor and the same will be official next year. Xiaomi and Vivo are the two smartphone brands that are expected to launch their devices with the latest mobile processor before the end of this year.
