After launching the latest and greatest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 flagship mobile processor, the popular chipset maker Qualcomm has unveiled Qualcomm Snapdragon AR2 Gen 1, and the same is meant for Augmented Reality devices.
The company claims that the newly introduced chipset can able to offer “groundbreaking AR technology and the same will unlock a new generation of sleek, highly capable glasses.”
It is built on a multi-chip distributed processing architecture along with customized IP blocks and it is claimed to offer 2.5x better AI performance than the Snapdragon XR2 Gen 1.
The newly announced chipset features an AR processor, an AR co-processor, and a connectivity platform. It is optimized for low motion-to-photon latency. The AR co-processor aggregates data from connected cameras and sensors and the same will enable features including eye tracking and iris authentication for foveated rendering.
Regarding the connectivity options, the chip features the FastConnect 7800 system and supports the latest Wi-Fi 7 technology with less than 2ms latency between the AR glasses and the smartphone or host device.
We don’t have any information about the availability of the first product with the new chipset at this moment of time but we are looking forward to learn more about the same in the coming days.
