Realme recently launched its first fitness tracker called Realme Band and it is coming with an amazing design along with the decent specifications and also offers a heart rate sensor which we can’t find the on any fitness device in this price segment, the device is also coming with a powerful battery along with the lots of useful features. The company has launched the device with the price tag of ₹1,499 and its a pretty aggressive pricing.
Having said that, the device doesn’t look like a finished product as it misses many features such as a stopwatch, alarm but still it managed to offer some handy and the modern elements. It is worth mentioning that all such features can be added with the OTA updates and the company already promised to bring new watch faces and improvements via future updates. So, let’s get into the review of the product and know more about the same in detail.
Realme Band Review: Design & Display
The device comes with a sleek and minimalistic approach, it also comes with a curved design language and accommodates the wrist naturally and also the same is very light that’s why one should not feel any uneasiness even in long use. It also has the plastic protection and there is no bump at all, the device also looks sleek and slimmer when we compare it to many other popular bands. The wearable has a capacitive button under the display and the same allows us to navigate across the device.
It has TPU straps and it offers a plastic feeling and that’s why it should be pretty durable, the device is coming with a USB connector which hides under the straps and you need to open it to get a view of the USB port and this also enables users to plug it directly to charge on any USB port or charging adaptor. Well, this is a very handy process as it eliminates the hassle of carrying the charger. The Realme Band also has the IP68 rating, which will provide water and dust resistance, and the same allows to wear even while a shower.
Moving to the display of the Realme Band, it features a 0.96 inch TFT LCD display and it offers 160 x 480 pixels resolution, the device is not coming with AMOLED panel but it still offers a similar experience. As it will light up the screen whenever you move your hand or shake it which means you never need to press or access the button to get the time or any other information.
The display does not satisfy me completely because it won’t offer great brightness and it will definitely make trouble under the sun, but the display is quite decent indoors. Having said that, if the company could tweak the brightness of the same then it will be a good display.
Realme Band Review: Performance
It offers amazing performance in our day to day life, as I mentioned the device comes with a button and that allows users to navigate across the user interface and also to enter into the various modes of the device. Pressing it once will navigate across the user interface and long press on the button it will enter in that particular mode. That said, the button is so sensitive as it offers a touch feeling.
The device comes with many fitness-related mode and that includes an India specific feature called cricket and yoga as well and offers accurate information. Speaking about the fitness features, it provides various fitness tracking features such as walk, run, bike, sleep monitoring, heart rate monitoring, and even it remind you to drink water as well.
Having said that, the heart rate monitor of the Realme Band is quite impressive as it offers pretty accurate information and also starts to measure the heart very quickly. Just like other fitness-related features, the heart rate information also can be viewed in the Realme Link application.
It comes with 5 watch faces and the company confirmed to bring more in the future updates and the entire process can be manager and control via the new Realme Link app and you need to pair the device with that particular application to get the complete details of your fitness and also to make various changes in the settings of the device, the app can be download from Google Play Store.
Realme Band also provides notifications from all the popular applications and it also notifies the calls as well as messages and the devices also allow users to reject calls by pressing the button.
Realme Band Review: Battery
Realme promises that the device will offer up to 9 days of battery life and it performs similarly in the real life, I am using the Realme Band from the past couple of days along with the heart rate monitoring enabled and the battery is not draining quickly. Overall, the wearable also offering a decent battery life. Speaking about the charging speed, it took nearly one hour to charge completely from 30%. Well, that’s a pretty decent speed.
Verdict
The latest Realme Band is superb easy to use the device and also comes with a fair amount of fitness-related features and is also a perfect device for those who are not looking for a complicated device. It also allows users to charge it is by plugging it to any adaptor or USB port and this also make life easy for charging the band.
At the same time, it lacks some features which I mentioned above and we hope that the company will bring the same in future updates, Realme also has a good track record in serving updates on time. More importantly, it comes with a pocket-friendly price tag as well and that enables more people to purchase a fitness band without affecting in their monthly budget.
